- Abstract
The article profiles the theatrical personality/impresario David Belasco. It mentions that he was an actor, playwright, and is considered as the pre-eminent stage director of his time during the late 1800s and 1900s. It notes that the Belasco family were among the first Jewish families to settle in Fort Victoria, Vancouver during the height of the Fraser River Gold Rush. It adds that living in the rural frontier, the family kept chickens and managed A. Belasco's Fruit Store to feed their growing family.
