- Abstract
The article focuses on Sidney S. Peixotto, founder of the Columbia Park Boy's Club in San Francisco, California. Born in New York City on May 9, 1866, Peixotto was brought to San Francisco at the age of two. After graduating from South Cosmopolitan Grammar School in 1880, he worked as a clerk, salesman, and bookkeeper from age 16 to 24. In 1891, after a trip from Paris, France, he worked as a journalist, reporter and then clerk at Associated Charities. While working as a manager at the San Francisco Boys' Club, he assisted the Emanu-El Sisterhood for Personal Service in establishing the Columbia Park Boys' Club. In the 1896-1897 year, Peixotto became full time director of the club. Peixotto married twice in 1921 and on January 31, 1925.
