The article offers information on the challenges that health plans often face when trying to increase their degree of knowledge and understanding of a particular rare disease, and the treatment costs associated with managing the patients diagnosed with this condition; and mentions that treatments for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), including plasma exchange and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), would be targets for utilization management.
