- Abstract
The article "Myth of Adam Smith" by Sebastian Thieme discusses the ambivalence of Adam Smith's thinking and the ambivalent treatment of him. It emphasizes that Smith has often been misunderstood, idealized, and unilaterally appropriated. The article addresses the so-called "Adam Smith problem" and the significance of the ethical aspects of economics and thinking in Smith's work. It points out that modern economics neglects the history of economic thought and that a more intensive engagement with it is necessary.
