- Abstract
The author describes his experiences as a new middle-school English language arts teacher and his endorsement of the services offered by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). He discovered during his first teaching months that students deemed difficult learners can develop interest in reading if they are given a wide choice of books to read and free access to these books. He also advises teachers to take advantage of NCTE resources and online social networking websites.
