Memantine for migraine—Big promise but little evidence.
Abstract
The author reflects on the evidence supporting the effectiveness of memantine as a preventive therapy of migraine. Also cited are the study on rodents showing that memantine inhibits cortical spreading depression in the animal, memantine's excellent safety and tolerability profile, and the use of memantine as adjunctive treatment for cluster headache and trigeminal neuralgia.
