- Abstract
The article presents a study on the examination and assessment of the environmental awareness and the government policies with regards to environment in Hong Kong, China. It analyzes the environmental policy-making agency as well as the environmental impact assessment ordinance in solving the three major environmental problems including waste disposal, water pollution, and air pollution based on two opinion surveys in 2000 and 2008. The study shows that the people have lack of confidence towards the government's enforcement due to its failure to deliver comprehensive and an integrated environmental strategy. It cites that the people are pessimistic with regards to air pollution and the improvements with the environmental problems in the future.
