- Title
Data Expiration, Let the User Decide: Proposed Legislation for Online User-Generated Content.
- Authors
MAJOVSKI, KAREN
- Abstract
The author advocates that the U.S. Congress must enact a law regarding websites that permit Internet users to create data expiration settings which will automatically delete original posted contents at a user-selected time. She discusses how a permanent digital record on Internet can cause harm to a person's reputation. She argues that it is requisite to have an effective user control over personal information on Internet and recognition of a delete-by-default approach for Internet users.
