- Abstract
The article presents a comparative study that determines the adoption and participation of the U.S. in maritime conventions to protect the marine environment in context to the DEEPWATER HORIZON oil spill accident in Mississippi. It compares the issue of civil liability for damages in marine pollution cases in the U.S. with the international regimes. It also discusses the U.S. Supreme Court case of Exxon Shipping Co. v. Baker in this approach.
