- Abstract
The authors discuss aspects of the effect of Zika virus (ZIKV) to the safety of the blood supply. Topics include the historical and outbreaks of ZIKV, cases of ZIKV infection in the U.S. in 2015, and incidence of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS. Also mentioned are the rate of congenital syndromes after maternal ZIKV infection, transmission, and diagnostic challenges.
