- Title
Further steps for parenteral nutrition in the electronic health record.
- Authors
G., Sanchez John Patrick; W., Canada Todd
- Abstract
The authors convey their concerns on a call to action for optimizing parenteral nutrition (PN) workflow in the electronic health record (EHR). They said that lowering the amount of PN order transcription in the EHR and for automated compounding devices is overdue. They mentioned that EHRs need to let nursing double-check verification of the PN. The EHR updates need to take into consideration the existing clinical decision support alerts to prevent additional alert fatigue.
