Moi, c'est l'Autre. L'histoire des Franco-Américains dans la culture populaire télévisuelle et cinématographique au Québec (1949-1992).
- Authors
LAVOIE, PIERRE
- Abstract
In this paper, the author analyzes the historical representations of the French-Canadian migrations to New England in Quebec's culture after the Second World War, using historiography as well as popular television and film sources such as Entre chien et loup and Les Tisserands du pouvoir. It appears that even though they gradually developed a distinct collective identification during the migration century (1840-1930), the Franco-Americans of New England were symbolically dispossessed of this distinction by the appropriation of their history by many Quebecers in the midst of their language and identity debates of the late 1980s.
