- Abstract
The article "Extrusion-based manufacturing processes in dental technology - an introduction" describes the application of filament 3D printing in dental technology. Filament 3D printing enables cost-effective production of models and individual impression trays in dental laboratories. Compared to photosensitive polymers, filament 3D printing is more environmentally friendly and less burdensome for users. The advantages of filament printing are also highlighted, such as less post-processing and lower material costs compared to digital light processing (DLP) printing. However, it is noted that the validated process chain must be considered when manufacturing custom-made medical products. The article describes the fused filament fabrication (FFF) process in dental technology and emphasizes that it still needs to be further developed to fully exploit its potential.
