- Abstract
This article presents the findings of a study comparing two techniques for ultrasound-guided internal jugular vein (IJV) cannulation. The study aimed to determine the incidence of posterior venous wall puncture (PVWP) using the scan-as-you-go (SAYGO) technique versus the short-axis out-of-plane (SAOP) technique. The results showed that the SAYGO technique significantly reduced the incidence of PVWP compared to the SAOP technique. However, the SAYGO technique took longer to perform. The authors recommend using the SAYGO technique for real-time ultrasound-guided IJV cannulation.
