- Abstract
The article discusses the key challenges in extending democratic ideals, as a means to promote global democracy, to the global realm. It cites the importance of democratic practice in the national state, where the daily lives of citizens are influenced by political, financial and cultural forces that break state boundaries, such as the effects of green gas emissions and climate change to the world. Moreover, it notes on extending democracy to the global level by embedding global democratic institutions in a global regulatory framework.
