- Abstract
The book "Quality in Content Indexing" by Michael Franke-Maier, Anna Kasprzik, Andreas Ledl, and Hans Schürmann discusses various aspects of content indexing. The authors place great importance on the quality of content indexing and discuss the challenges of dealing with large amounts of data. Various approaches to measuring and evaluating the quality of content indexing are compared, including intellectual and machine-based approaches, as well as the perspectives of the library, the source creator, and the user. The book also includes contributions from experts on the standardization and quality assessment of MARC 21. Topics such as the role of classification and keywords in content indexing are also addressed. The book provides an extensive collection of essays and project reports from 49 authors and offers a good overview of the work of the German National Library in relation to content indexing.
