- Abstract
The article looks at the role of human dignity in the justification of human rights, focusing on references to dignity within discourse concerning human rights as well as the political aspects. Information is provided on the international human rights movement prior to World War II as well as in the postwar era, as the author notes the importance of political philosophy in a historical context. In addition, several interpretations of dignity are covered, including as social rank, value, and conduct.
