- Title
U.K. Ministry of Defence Reliability Prediction Procedure.
- Abstract
The Great Britain Ministry of Defence has issued a revised version of Defence Standard 00-41 Part 3, dealing with procedures and methods for performing reliability prediction. The new version was prepared by the Committee on Defence Equipment Reliability and Maintainability, to take account of recent developments in this area. The revision relegates the 'parts-count'-based technique, as presented in documents such as U.S. MIL HDBK 217 and British Telecom HRD 4, to a lower preference after `top-down' methods based on comparison with similar equipment and analysis of test results. It stresses the need to take account of management and contractual aspects, as well as technical risk factors.
