- Abstract
Emotional Intelligence can be defined, considering Mayer & Salovey's model, as the ability to control and regulate one's emotions and those of other people's and use them as a guide for thought and action. Within this framework, the authors have designed the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test which represents one of the most widely used instruments in the research on Emotional Intelligence. The objective of this research was to adapt and validate ecologically the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test, for its use in the population of Buenos Aires. Two samples of participants were selected: general population (n=97) and experts in psychometrics and emotions (n=33). The results obtained in the original version of the test were replicated; the level of agreement was higher among experts than that in general population. A high liability index was obtained (r=.91) for the total score.
