- Abstract
The article presents a poetry criticism of the 14th-century Middle English poem titled "Pearl," by an anonymous author known as the "Pearl"-poet. Particular focus is given to the deadly sin, or vice, of pride. The article discusses the process of learning humility, the self-destructive nature of pride, virtue ethics and redemption. The article discusses how the poem refers to the Biblical parable of the Pearl of Great Price.
