- Abstract
Dogger bank itch is the popular name of an allergic contact dermatitis caused by sensitization to an allergen from the marine bryozoan Alcyonidium gelatinosum (L.). The dermatitis is a type-4 allergic reaction and the hapten responsible has been isolated, purified, structure elucidated, and synthesized. A critical review of the literature is presented and possible future research, based on experiments with the pure allergen, is discussed.
