- Abstract
This section introduces uncommon plant diseases and pests in Great Britain. In January 1973, two containers of rock elm being imported from Canada, each containing 10 logs with the bark attached, were examined by the Forestry Commission staff. Two of the logs were found to have gallery systems and some living stages of the bark beetle, Hylurgopinus rufipes, in parts of their bark. This appears to be the first record of this nearctic species in the region.
