- Abstract
This article describes new or uncommon plant diseases and pests in Great Britain. In 1962 and 1963 the roses in a number of houses on two holdings were dug up prematurely because the plants were unthrifty. The finer root tips on the plants were quite severely galled and examination of the soil revealed the presence of large numbers of Xiphinema diversicaudatum. Meanwhile, the spring of 1964 was marked by an unusually severe outbreak of hawthorn Leaf Blotch, caused by Monilinia johnsonii, in south-east England, from Suffolk to Sussex.
