- Abstract
This article focuses on the treatment of generalized pruritus in an HIV-positive patient with UVB phototherapy. The pruritus is idiopathic, resistant to conventional therapy, and may be accompanied by scattered prurigo nodules or by a more diffuse papular eruption. UVB phototherapy has been reported to be successful in the treatment of generalized pruritus associated with uraemia and cholestatic liver disease, although the mechanism of action is unclear.
