- Abstract
Alloimmunisation against red cell antigens poses a challenge to blood transfusion. This case study illustrates the difficulty in providing compatible red cells to a patient with multiple, but non-persistent alloantibodies. The patient, who was transfusiondependent due to pure red cell aplasia, produced multiple alloantibodies against antigens of three blood group systems. The persistence of the alloantibodies in this patient was much shorter than expected.
