The article presents a critique of Edwardian-era British erotic fiction. Focus is given to the analysis of the literary style of Edwardian sex novels. Topics addressed include famous novels that deal with sexual awakening such as those by May Sinclair, Arnold Bennett, and W. B. Maxwell, the symbolization of the body in the novels, and the thematic treatment of desire in the novels.
