- Abstract
In this study, the effects of household consumption expenditures, public expenditures, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and foreign trade deficit of macro variables on domestic savings were examined during the period of 2000-2014 in Turkey. For this purpose, the stationary levels of the quarterly data of variables in 2000-2014 were investigated with the unit root tests of the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF), Phillips-Perron. Engle-Granger cointegration test was applied, the long and the short term analyzes were done with the model of Dynamics Ordinary Least Square Analysis (DOLS). According to the analysis, the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in this period was an important factor on the increase in savings. The increase in the foreign trade balance also affected the savings partially in the positive direction. The increases of the public expenditures and the household consumption expenditures also negatively affected the savings.
