"WHAT IS TO BE DONE?": THE HEGEMONY OF SOLUTIONS IN IMMIGRANTS' LABOUR-MARKET INTEGRATION.
- Authors
Chatterjee, Soma
- Abstract
Skilled immigrants' labour-market integration is a long-standing public policy issue that has generated a substantial body of scholarship in Canada. This article shares the scholarly concern while stepping off from the hegemony of training and learning as a solution for skilled immigrants' challenges in the labour market. Drawing on a larger project on discourses of skill in the high-skilled labour market and postliberalization Canadian nationalism, this article argues that training/learning initiatives are not innocent or equity generating. As such, their ideological purchase in integration scholarship needs to be challenged.
