The article discusses the outcome of a study that examined health care records of over 62,00 patients with at least stage three chronic kidney disease (CKD). Topics discussed include the excess risk for CV mortality in CKD patients, publication of a position statement by the European Heart Rhythm Association on decision-making in patients with CKD and cardiac rhythm disturbances or implantable electrical devices, and trials of rate versus rhythm control in atrial fibrillation.
