The article focuses on the renewal of the Syrian Orthodox Church after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. After the First World War, members of the Syrian Orthodox Church found themselves scattered and divided amongst a new network of nation states. In the Syrian Orthodox community, the issues of language, bloodlines and diaspora communities are multi-layered and complex.
