- Abstract
The article presents the author's views on the growth and development of preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and health maintenance organizations (HMOs) in dentistry and dental technology in the U.S. He says that their main concern is cost containment, which raises the responsibilities of the practitioners and technicians. He suggests that as professionals, practitioners should reject mediocrity in health standards and grow professionally by maintaining a high standard of dentistry.
