- Title
Assessing Musical Achievement in Students with Disabilities and Impairments.
- Authors
Farrell, Helen
- Abstract
This article reports on findings of Farrell's 2006 study that, in part focused on assessing musical achievement in students with disabilities and impairments in response to national, state and local assessment practices in music education. The article presents a discussion of the impact and local implementation of assessing musical achievement in students with disabilities and impairments. The focus of this article is to develop an understanding of assessing musical achievement in students with disabilities and impairments. For most people, an understanding may reduce fear, unease and distrust. The phenomenon would seem logical. The fundamental assumption that underlies this work is that music education and all of The Arts are important for all students, including those with disabilities and impairments.
