- Abstract
The article discusses a study that applied single-molecule technology in the sequencing of a human genome. Researchers used a Helicos BioSciences sequencer that is based on cyclic-array sequencing principles, though the results of the study indicate that the instrument may not be more competitive than other approaches. According to the researchers, every cell in an individual may contain genetic variation that affects cellular function, and such genomic heterogeneity could be relevant to cancer and other complex disorders.
