The article presents the highlights of the presentation by Randa Deaton of the Purchaser Business Group on Health (PBGH) on the key role played by payers, including employers and public entities, in improving health equity and maternal health care in the U.S. The report was presented at the Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH) 2024 Women's Health Summit. Other topics include how purchasing methods could help advance medical care quality, equity, and affordability.
