- Abstract
The article discusses factors behind implementation of the Use of Official Languages Act in South Africa. It highlights that the act was implemented with a main view to regulate and promote the use of official language in work of various governmental offices and organizations. It mentions that the official language is recognized with respect to the provisions mentioned in the section 6(1) of the constitution of South Africa. It further mentions that the selected official language should be spoken by more than 99 percent of the country's population.
