US Government Starts Test of SARS Vaccine.
- Abstract
The article reports that first vaccine in the U.S. for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which was spread in parts of Asia and around the world in 2003, is ready to be tested in human volunteers, government researchers in the country said. The researchers will use a vaccine that was reported in March 2004 to work safely and effectively in mice. They will seek 10 volunteers for the clinical trial. Chinese researchers began human testing of a SARS vaccine in May 2004. Vical Inc. of San Diego, California, will produce the DNA-based immunization.
