- Abstract
Three sesquiterpene lactones isoalantolactone (1), 1-O-acetylbritannilac tone (2) and britannilactone (3) were isolated from the roots of Inula helenium and the flowers of Laula japonica. This paper useed MTT assay to evaluate the antitumor activities of three sesquiterpenoids to the cell line of U251SP, HLE, MM1-CB and KT, and to explore the relationship between structure and activity. MTT assay showed that isoalantolactone (1) exhibited excellent anti-growth activities to U251SP, HLE, MM1-CB and KT, while 1-O-acetylbritannilac tone (2) and britannilactone (3) demonstrate weak or moderate anti-growth activities to U251SP, HLE, MM1-CB and KT cell lines even in the concentration of 100 µmol/L. This result indicated that anti-growth activities to four cell lines have closely relationship with the structures, 1, 10-seco of eudesmane sesquiterpene lactone lead to the lossess or decrease of anti-growth activity.
