- Title
FALSE HONOR AND FORTUNE'S PEAK IN 1503: LAZARILLO DE TORMES IN CONTEXT.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the use of two parallel themes of "false honor" and "fortune's peak" in the book "Lazarillo de Tormes." It was not until the Enlightenment, only as late as the second half of the eighteenth century, that the novel came to be thought of as a document focused on moral and social criticism. According to literary critics, the anonymous author of the book, most likely a worldweary observer who was disillusioned but buffered against a desire for real change by social privilege, has produced a world of mirrors playing among themselves.
