- Authors

- Abstract
An essay is presented on the three proposed theoretical approaches that may be applicable to early modern representations of indigenous women in Spanish theatre, namely, the Other as Other, the Other as Same and the Double Other. Topics covered include the use of these approaches by Spanish playwrights to critique the conquest of the Americas as well as the Spanish society and members of the ruling class, cases of cultural transference, and the depiction of Amazons in Spanish plays.
