- Title
Takeda buys Millennium Pharma.
- Abstract
The article reports on the acquisition of Millennium Pharmaceuticals by Takeda Pharmaceutical for a disclosed amount. The deal will give Takeda greater exposure in the U.S., and gives the company access to Velcade, a new cancer drug developed by Millennium. Millennium will remain as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Takeda at its present location of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The acquisition follows Takeda's decision in March 2008 to dissolve a long-standing drug-sales joint venture with Abbott Laboratories.
