Firm pays out over corruption charges.
Abstract
The article reports on the decision of U.S. natural gas pipeline company El Paso to pay 7.73 million U.S. dollars to the U.S. government to end allegations of corruption. Such allegations relate to indirect kickbacks supposedly paid to the Iraqi government for crude oil from members of the United Nation's oil-for-food programme. El Paso decided to forfeit a total of 5.48 million U.S. dollars which will be donated to the Iraqi Development Corp.
