- Abstract
The article discusses the number of refugees of the Acadian Expulsion who remained in Miramichi, New Brunswick, from 1756 to 1761. Topics include population counts for Acadians throughout Canada during this time period, the history of the expulsion as seen through letters and personal correspondence, and the actions of British troops towards Acadian families after the fall of Fort Beauséjour in 1755. The article includes an extensive appendix with the names of Acadian refugees who stayed at the camp.
