- Abstract
This article discusses the implementation of the Steps to a Healthier U.S. Cooperative Program in Monterey County, California. This program targeted Latino families who worked in agriculture in an effort to improve their diets by increasing the prominence of fruits and vegetables. This bilingual public health marketing campaign featured publicity regarding obesity and efforts to engage consumers in the improvement of their health. Efforts to increase the availability of healthy foods at taquerias in the targeted areas are described. Related efforts to reduce smoking at the entrances of taquerias are also described.
