- Title
Commercial Court in Stuttgart zieht positive Bilanz.
- Abstract
The Commercial Court in Stuttgart has achieved good results since its establishment in November 2020. There have been approximately 600 cases with a total value of around half a billion euros, of which 400 have already been concluded. The average duration of proceedings was about 6.5 months, and the appeal rate was very low, at less than ten percent. The Commercial Court chambers are well staffed, allowing judges to quickly and thoroughly address disputes. Work is underway on a draft law to regulate the establishment and procedures of Commercial Courts. The EU has enacted a law on digital services, which also includes innovative provisions for dispute resolution. German justice is relatively well positioned in comparison to other European countries, as shown by the EU Justice Scoreboard 2023. There are plans to reform arbitration law in order to improve the efficiency of arbitration proceedings and make Germany a more attractive arbitration venue.
