- Abstract
The article provides information on the origin and history as well as the musical elements and structures being used in the Mi-Kagura ceremony of the Japanese Imperial Court. According to the article, the vocal music and the songs being used in the ceremony followed the rhythmic patterns and irregular phrase of Japanese poetry. In addition, it states that the occasion has been the oldest autochthonous tradition in Japan because of its long history of continuous performance.
