- Abstract
The article reports that Mediation research has traditionally focused on interstate armed conflicts and militarized disputes and has only in the last decade examined mediation in conflicts that have taken place within states rather than between them. It mentions that the data show that nonviolent campaigns have been more effective in bringing about aspired change, such as democratization of authoritarian rule, compared to armed campaigns.
