- Abstract
The project is an internet of things (IOT) based system that is devised to save power consumption. According to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) a report of Indian residential consumption, considering two lights and two fans, ON for 12 hours per day in the household approximately usage of electricity is 72 unit (kWh) per month. It is believed that from this project at least 20% of electricity can be saved per day which can be supplied to other households. The project is designed and interfaced with some components such as infrared (IR) sensors, motors, etc. with an Arduino microcontroller that controls the room lights and fans as well as counts the number of persons inside the room very accurately. The system can automatically switch ON room lights and fans when at least one person enters the room. If the person leaves the room, the lights and fans automatically get switched OFF. Thus, it can be used to prevent unwanted electric power wastage in schools/colleges/offices/ malls/houses and is a promising project for the conservation of energy which is quite helpful for the environment.
