- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to develop an organic molecular crystal nanostructures with built in directional response by crystal shape and molecular packing. It states that the solid-state structure and reactivity of derivative, dimethyl-2(3-(anthracen- 9-yl)allylidene)malonate (DMAAM) were studied and show that a pulse of visible light can make a curling motion in crystalline nanowires. It concludes that photoisomerization reaction can cause dramatic change in crystal shape.
