- Abstract
Gas hydrates can readily form in deep-water oil and gas transportation pipelines and pose a great threat to pipeline flow as-surance. One strategy for hydrate risk management is the injection of anti-agglomerants ( AAs) into the pipeline, which could prevent the agglomeration of hydrate particles and favor the formation of flowable hydrate slurries. In order to investigate the effectiveness of an anti-agglomerants ( AA) sample labeled AA-D provided by Total Fluides © ( France), a transparent rock-flow cell was used where a series of hydrate formation and flow experiments were conducted under different rocking conditions with and without the injection of AA-D. During the experiments, the experimental phenomena before, upon and after hydrate formation onset were recorded by a webcam. Water conver-sion of each case was also calculated based on the changes in temperature and pressure profiles. According to the experimental results, the effects of AA-D and rocking conditions (rocking angle and rocking rate) on the experimental phenomena and water conversion were systematically investigated. The results show that the effectiveness of AA-D is tested to he rather good under the experimental conditions. The research results can provide theoretical basis and reference for for the prevention and control of hydrate anti-agglomerant.
