- Title
Assessing the efficacy of acupuncture as the sole analgesic for canine chronic pain.

- Abstract
The article explores the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating chronic pain in dogs. It reviews four clinical trials and finds mixed results. While one study showed that gold bead implantation provided pain relief and improved mobility in dogs with hip dysplasia, the other three studies did not find significant benefits of acupuncture compared to placebo treatment. The article suggests that acupuncture may have some analgesic effects, but it is unlikely to be effective as the sole method for pain management in dogs with musculoskeletal causes. Further research is needed to understand the effects of acupuncture on chronic pain with neurological and oncological causes. The article emphasizes the importance of considering individual circumstances and available therapies when using acupuncture as a treatment.
